A Remarkable Resume – What makes a great recommendation?

Not all written recommendations are created equal. Look at the following:

“Joann is great” - peer

“Joann is one of the best Product Managers I’ve ever worked with” – Direct Manager

“Joann exceeded all my expectations and exceeded all the goals we had established. She was phenomenal and I’d recommend that anyone hire her if they need a Product Manager to save a troubled product.” - CEO

Which one stands out to you?

What you’re looking for are recommendations that are specific, that detail your results, and are from the highest person in the organization possible. Additionally, since they are on your resume, expect that they will be called as a reference. You should know that they are going to be shouting your praises well beyond what is written on your resume.
